Brass Polishing
A process which results in a smooth and shiny surface, of a metal, by the use of some chemicals and rubbing, is known as Polishing. Basically what Polishing does, is that it removes bad elements (oxidization elements) from the metal. Polishing is similar to the cleaning process. So, Brass Polishing means polishing or cleaning of the metal Brass.
The Brass metal often contains impurities (or bad elements) that results in the reduction of aesthetic qualities and looks of the Brass. There exist numerous products in the market, that are used for cleaning/polishing the Brass Products. Some of the Brass cleaning products are very corrosive or acidic. One must take appropriate protection while polishing the Brass.
Harmful Brass Polishing Products

Some of these products are based on Ammonia (called Caustic cleaners), and on the vegetable wax. Always say no to such products, as these can harm your Brass Product(s). Cleaning Brass Products
Caustic Brass Polishing products have to be used in some inevitable conditions, like when the Brass Product is very-very badly vitiated. First apply limited amount of any caustic cleaner to the vitiated Brass. In addition, one can use some mild acid neutralizer to limit the effect of the caustic cleaner. Then follow the general method of Brass polishing. Lightly vitiated Brass Products can easily be polished by using any simple Brass Polishing Product. If any Brass Product is very slightly vitiated, then vinegar can also be used to wipe of the surface.

Precautions in Brass Polishing
Say no to rubbing your brass with wire, plastic cleaners or other severe hard surface cleaners.
Say no to polishes or cleaners, that contains ammonia or similar kind of chemical.
Say no to polishes that are based on a vegetable wax, such as bees wax, as they are acidic and severely attack the surface of the Brass.
